This class for students looking to target, improve, and refine their basic throwing skills to achieve greater control over the process to develop a strong foundation. Aram will be helping you target and improve your problem areas.
Workshop Topics:
- Wedging
- Understanding clay bodies
- Centering up to 4 lbs
- Identifying common centering problems
- Opening as a determinant of the final shape
- Opening for wide pieces
- Pulling tall pieces
- Pulling narrow pieces
- Pulling with varying cross-section thickness
- Conceptualizing, blocking, and refining shapes
Aram Guzman (Clay Queeries) is a designer, artist, and long time teacher and member at POT. His approach to teaching the potter's wheel is through extensive live demos, one-on-one guidance, and observation and correction, all while encouraging confidence in the student. Aram is excited to bring this skill-boosting clinic to POT to strengthen and broaden the skills of aspiring potters.
workshop for Wheel 1 graduates, or anyone with at least 4 weeks of wheel throwing experience.
Work made in this class will not be kept or fired.
